Welcome to our Yankee Homecoming lineup! We are pleased to be presenting these in person programs this year for Yankee Homecoming.

Join local historian and author Ghlee Woodworth and enjoy a visual tour of over 60 images upcoming in her Newburyport’s Clipper Heritage Trail  Volume II to be published later in the fall. Ghlee is the creator and author of Newburyport’s Clipper Heritage Trail, a series of self-guided history tours accessed via a book, a website and smart phones at www.clipperheritagetrail.com. The Clipper Heritage Trail is an American Association of State and Local History merit award winner.

A native of Newburyport, Ghlee E. Woodworth is a twelfth-generation descendant of Robert Adams, one of the first settlers of Newbury. She worked as a Peace Corps volunteer in the Comoros Islands, East Africa in the early 90s and then went on to train new Peace Corps volunteers and mentor host country national staff in thirteen countries until 2004. In 2006, following in the footsteps of her father, local historian Todd C. Woodworth, Ghlee carried on the tradition of conducting the Oak Hill Cemetery tours he had given for many years, "Tiptoe Through the Tombstones". Since 2006, Ghlee has presented approximately 160 tours and slide shows for the community. In 2009, she published her first book, Tiptoe Through the Tombstones Oak Hill Cemetery, which has won several awards. Newburyport's Clipper Heritage Trail Volume I was published in 2021; Volume II will be out this fall.
