Please join us for an afternoon of poetry with the Powow River Poets! Readings are free, accessible and open to the public. The poets reading this month are Pedro Poitevin and Anne Mulvey. Come early to sign up for open mic. This program will take place in the Newburyport Public Library Program Room. 

A mathematician by profession, Pedro Poitevin is a bilingual poet and translator originally from Guatemala. He is a contributor to the journals Letras Libres and Periódico de Poesía in Mexico. His poems in English have appeared in Rattle, River Styx, Angle, Think, and Nashville Review, among others.

Anne Mulvey’s new book is Family Matters. She began writing poems after her brother’s death in 1994 and is a long-time member of the Powow River Poets. Anne, now a Professor Emerita of Psychology at UMass Lowell, often incorporated poetry and creative writing into academic courses and community projects.

The Powow River Poets, based in Newburyport, MA, are active promoters of poetry in New England.
