Do you have arts and crafts supplies that you no longer need? Do you want to start a new hobby without investing money? Swing by the Newburyport Community Art Supply Swap to exchange items for something new to you!

This is a chance to pass along craft supplies that you are no longer using so someone else can take advantage of them and avoid the landfill!

If you are unable to attend or do not wish to exchange supplies, you may donate new or gently used items to the Program Room on the following dates and times: 

• Monday, August 12th: 2pm-4pm
• Wednesday, August 14th: 9am-11:30am

Suggested items to donate or swap: yarn, fabric or felt, ribbon, knitting supplies, needlework kits, embroidery supplies, sewing supplies (thread, zippers, etc.), rubber stamps, usable ink pads, scrapbooking or card-making supplies, cardstock, art supplies (usable paints, brushes, canvases, etc.), and stencils.*

*All items should be clean, or gently used, and in the original packaging. If the original packing is not available, place donated items in a clean zip lock bag. Please, no partial bottles of glue, glue-type liquids, spray paint, or paint thinners or additives.

Size restrictions: Please do not bring items that do not fit in a small vehicle. No drafting/drawing tables, artist workstations, drying racks or large furniture of any kind. We encourage you to contact the Reference Desk at 978-465-4428 ex. 242 for any questions regarding size. 

FAQ

Do I need to bring supplies to participate?

Nope! You can still take supplies even if you do not donate.

If I bring donations, do I need to stay with them the whole time or bring home unclaimed items?

Nope! You can stay for any duration during the event and staff will handle the unclaimed items.

Can I bring donations early and drop them off?

Yes! You can drop off donations to the Program Room:

Wednesday, August 14th: 9am-11:30am

I have a couple of small boxes full of random supplies and I don’t have time to sort it all out. Can I just drop them off?

We gently ask that all donated craft supplies have containers (i.e. please don’t give us a handful of beads, please bag it or box it), and be clean and free of damage. These should be new or gently used items you would like to find a home.

How many supplies can I take at once?

There is no limit to the number of free craft supplies you can take with you. The only thing we ask is to please be respectful to other folks who also might be interested in items and to always be kind.

Please bring your own bag(s) to take supplies home!

The Library reserves the right to reject any item deemed inappropriate.
