Join the monthly Art History Group!

We will review the life and work of one artist each month, and discuss the movements that they contributed to. No prior knowledge of art history or the artist of the month is necessary. This group meets in-person on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 3 PM.

The Norwegian painter Frits Thaulow is seldom mentioned in art history books today; however, during his lifetime he was often referred to as the “master of water paintings." Thaulow went on to be inducted into the French Legion of Honor for his artistic accomplishments. A close friend of Claude Monet, he became the leading landscape painter from Norway.

Join us in April, as we explore the contemplative works of Frits Thaulow, and his love of ponds, lakes, rivers and creeks—with some of the most breathtaking depictions of water ever put on canvas.
